Heartfelt sympathy, caring thoughts, prayers. Ruthie was a true treasure and inspiration. She added joy and blessings to others in all she did each day. Wishing the family and friends: a song in your hearts; sunshine after the clouds; a rainbow after the rain. Cherished memories. Peace.

My deepest sympathies for the family. I was a classmate of Ruth's in high school where we took a speech class together. The story she shared about her earlier childhood loss of part of one finger in a speech was precious and memorable and gave me a sense of her wonderful personality. I also loved the early class reunion note she shared about falling in love with her to be husband. I'm sorry for your loss of such a loving mother and spouse!

Ruthie and Mark were our neighbors in Briarwood. She was one of the first people I met when we moved there and we became great friends. I helped babysit for Sven when she worked part time and she babysat for our daughter Dani occasionally. We had so much fun together. She was such a wonderful person and when they moved to Springfield I was so sad. We have kept in touch these past 30 years. She wrote a nice note at Christmas and told me she had health problems. I will forever regret not calling her to touch base. I always meant too. Her passing is a sad day for all who were blessed to know her. My prayers to Mark and family.

Ruthie was my very first friend in my life! She was born when I was 9 months old and lived across the street and one house over from me. I could see her house from my window. As kids we were together constantly. We practically lived together playing dolls and games, eating over, biking all over town, sleepovers in the parachute, going to to lake, riding in the back of the truck, spending our money on candy at the Five and Dime store, night games, snow forts, sitting up in the tree in her front yard, recesses, school, and oh, how the list continues. Ruthie shaped my childhood and my life! We shared laughter and tears. When I think of my childhood Ruthie is my first thought! I am deeply sadden by Ruthie’s passing. A part of my life is gone. My thoughts, prayers and sympathy go to Ruthie’s family. She was a gem. She will forever be in our hearts.

Ruthie was a dear friend growing up! Our families spent countless hours together at Big Birch Lake. Our little hand prints still imprinted in the cement on the rock wall! We had so much fun growing up together! The memory of your laugh will forever make my heart smile! I’m grateful for all the sweet memories. To Ruthie’s family, I am so very sorry for your loss. RIP dear friend.

Oh Ruthie, you were a treasure! I worked with Ruthie in ICU and PACU. We had a bit too much fun for working in high stress areas! When Dr Steen arrived on the scene, he drove us crazy! Vividly remember complaining to Ruthie about him and she gave me that sly smile of hers and told me she was dating him. I flipped! Obviously she knew what she doing! Sincerest sympathy to Mark and his family. You had a beauty.

You know someone has made an impact when their remains vivid in your memory for more than 40 years. I know I speak for many in the Melrose Class of '77 who knew and loved Ruth - her smile, her spunk and spirit. I'm saddened to hear of her passing and know she is missed.

Sending prayers and comfort to Dr Steen and family. I enjoyed getting to know Ruthie when I worked with her in ICU at Dakota. In visiting with her one time at work, I discovered her family had the cabin next to my Aunt and Uncle's cabin outside of Melrose.

I was so very saddened to read about Ruthie's passing. I worked with her thru the Old Dakota's Operating Room and loved bringing patients to her in PACU. No matter what type of day you were having, her loving smile, twinkling eyes, and loving spirit elevated one's spirit and brightened your day. Dr Steen and Family, May all your "Happy Memories" give you Comfort at this time.

There was not a day at work in old Dakota ICU, nor a social event, that Ruthie didn't lighten the load and brigthen the day. May the memory of her smile, her laugh and her sparkling eyes, bring you and your kids comfort, Dr. Steen. Heaven gained quite the angel. Rest in peace, Ruthie. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.
