Condolences for Jean Ann Berthold

Grandma Berthold was the greatest. I loved my train trips to Illinois every year. She and Grandpa would always make sure we visited all my favorite eateries - Gabatonis, Steak and Shake, Vic's & swimming at the Knights of Columbus, Lake Sprigfield. No trip would be complete without visits to Cathedral, Ursuline Academy and Lincoln sites and of course to see my Great Grandma Fyke! Grandma always was ready and willing to show me a great time. I will miss talking to her on the phone and visiting her at Lewis Memorial village. For many years she came out to New York, in October, for my birthday. She will be specially remembered every year as we celebrate those special holidays. Lastly, she promised to keep watching over me and I pray that she will. xoxo

Dina and I had the pleasure of knowing Jean. Jean will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart. Jean would always tell me , "drive safe, love you and God bless". Heaven has gained a sweet angel!

I will miss my Grandma Berthold dearly and remember: our annual trips to Illinois in the summer and big dinners at grandma and grandpas house, grandma taking us swimming, playing in the beauty shop and getting my short haircuts, and visiting Grsndma and Grandpa in Daytona and Gulf Shores when they would go south for the winter. She was always so loving and supportive of me during the years and will cherish those wonderful memories of such a caring, strong grandmother.

Grandma Berthold was a wonderful grandmother. I always looked forward to our annual summer drive to Illinois to visit or being able to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa is Florida or the Gulf Shores during Christmas. I have so many wonderful memories of big dinners with the family, grandma taking us swimming, and wanting to play in the beauty shop as a little girl.

Denise & family, My sympathy to you for the loss of your mom. She was one of the first ladies my mom (Jeanine Nelch) met 3 years ago when she came to live at Lewis. Jean was so nice & welcoming. It was a pleasure to have met you & your mom . Sincerely, Andrea Johnson

What can I say, but mom was the best mother a son could have ever have. She was always there for me. I remember our last mortal moments together and knew it would probably our last conversation. That is the only consolation in letting her go. I love her with all my heart.

Jean was the best mother-in-law. When I married Paul, she welcomed me into their family with love. I remember our annual summer vacations, driving from North Carolina with our children. She would greet us in the driveway with open arms with hugs and kisses. We had many Sunday spaghetti dinners, shared with family and friends. One special memory is when Jean and I would drink our 10 pm hot tea in the kitchen, talking about life. I will miss her, but have many cherished memories.

Jean was the best mother-in-law. She always made me feel welcomed and loved into my new family when I married Paul. When we would make our annual summer visit from North Carolina with our children she always greeted us with open arms and hugs and kisses as we arrived from our long drive. We shared many delicious Sunday spaghetti dinners with extra family and friends. Many times, Jean and I would have a 10pm hot tea in the kitchen, just taking about life. I will miss her, but cherish all my wonderful memories.
