Condolences for Reverend Franklin Lewis “Frank” Nelson

Frank was a grand gentleman with whom I worked for many years at DCFS. He had tremendous common sense and great patience in teaching so many of us (then) young caseworkers about Medicaid and all kinds of government regulations. DCFS would be better off if we had more people like Frank. Later after Frank retired, I enjoyed our conversations and his wisdom and insight deepened my own faith. Frank Nelson served his country, his community and the children and families of Illinois with distinction, and I am honored to have known him. Enjoy your heavenly rewards buddy!

Frank was the worship leader at HPBC when I first joined. He was always so full of life and joy of the Lord. It was an honor to know him and his sweet wife Phyllis. He is leading the heavenly choir no doubt..

I worked at the office of the Illinois Attorney General during some of the same years Frank worked at the Department of Children and Family Services. I got to know Frank as our contact with DCFS as did the other lawyers in the unit in which I worked. Frank became a friend with whom we often enjoyed lunch over the years. We were also privileged to meet his wonderful wife at our annual Christmas parties. Sadly we lost touch in the last few years, but I believe that Frank is now together with her and God in heaven where I one day hope to see them again.
