William W. Meyer
William W. Meyer, 82, of Springfield, died at 2:53 pm, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born February 3, 1935 in Bloomington, to William E. and Winifred Walker Meyer. He married Charlotte McMullen on September 24, 1955 and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Debra (Bill Golliday) Meyer of Gold Canyon, AZ, Diane (John) Hewitt of Fountain Hills, AZ and Donna (Charles) Rovey of Springfield, MO; one son, David (Donna) Meyer of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Johnny, Jeffrey, Shelly, Scott, Stacey, Steven, Karl and Josh; six great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Meyer of Springfield; one brother, Richard (Cheryl) Meyer of Springfield; one nephew, Michael; four nieces, Christa, Tessa, Lori and Teri and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joanie Meyer.
William was a member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church and the US Naval Reserves. He retired as a meat cutter for Jewel-Osco Grocery and previously had worked for Eisner Grocery and A&P Grocery.
He enjoyed camping and was an Eagle Scout. You would always find him with a smile on his face and a willing heart to help wherever he could. He enjoyed working with his hands, building, creating, and repurposing items.
