William L. "Sonny" Tonellato
William “Sonny” J. Tonellato, 85, of Springfield, died at 1:52 am, Saturday, October 21, 2017, at his home. He was born June 26, 1932, in Springfield to Libero and Mary (Stefancic) Tonellato, and they preceded him in death. He married Inez L. Dyer on November 1, 1952, and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2005.
Surviving are six daughters: Karen (David) Fasig of Sherman, Patricia (Eric) Ashcraft of Missoula, MT, Linda (Tim) Harden of Ringgold, GA, Carol (Peter) Hood of Springfield, Kathryn Schmidt of Springfield, and Barbara (Robert) Buskis of Athens; four sons: David (Paula) Tonellato, Michael (Nancy) Tonellato, and Joseph Tonellato, all of Springfield, and John Tonellato of New Orleans, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and his dog, Susie. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Miller, and twin granddaughters, Hannah Marie and Halley Massey.
Sonny was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for the US Postal Service. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Cabrini Church and an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Braden Maher officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
