William L. Steinhour, Sr., 84 of Springfield, died at 1:56 pm, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born September 1, 1929 in Lincoln, IL to George and Alma Snider Steinhour. He married Mary E. Palmisano on September 16, 1951 and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda M. (Mark) Patrick of Springfield; son, William L. (Elizabeth) Steinhour, Jr. of Glenarm; five grandchildren, William (Kristen) Steinhour, III, Alicia (Timothy) Gronli, Douglas Patrick, Jeffrey (fiancée Cortney Jones) Patrick and Nathan Patrick.; four great-grandchildren, William Steinhour, IV, Alexandra Gronli, Katelyn Steinhour and Maxwell Gronli; two brothers Richard (Janet) Steinhour and Ronald (Barb) Steinhour both of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and two sisters, Evelyn Yates and Norma Jean Drabing.
William was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower. He worked as a carpenter and retired from Carpenters Union Local #16.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail and the US Army.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2141 W. White Oaks Drive, Springfield, IL 62704.
