William F. Logan
SPRINGFIELD – William F. Logan, 74, of Springfield died at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1934, in Virden, the son of Ephriam and Alberta Fuiten Logan. He married Shirley Furtwengler on June 21, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, John.
Mr. Logan, retired, lived in Springfield for 25 years, and was formerly of Virden and Girard. He worked as director of personnel for the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer, chief of operations for the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer, manager of administrative services for the City of Springfield, executive assistant for the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer, executive assistant/director of driver services for the Office of Illinois Secretary of State and supervisor of driver control and unit manager for the Illinois secretary of state.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Knights of Columbus in Virden, American Legion Post 32, VFW Post 14000 and a graduate of Virden High School.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Logan of Springfield; two daughters, Lisa Logan of Springfield and Lori (husband, Stanley A.) Logan Motyka of Chicago; and two grandchildren, Cassidy and Kyra Motyka.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield with the Rev. Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery.
