William E. Gene Aubrey
FARMERSVILLE – William E. Gene Aubrey, 68, of Farmersville, formerly of Chatham, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born Feb. 21, 1939, to William Raymond Mike and Julia E. McAvoy Aubrey in Springfield.
Mr. Aubrey worked as a highway engineer technician for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 34 years.
He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and enjoyed motorcycle riding. He coached Little League baseball in Chatham for many years and was a past president of the Chatham Khoury League. Gene also served as the first director of the Chatham Building and Zoning Commission. Survivors include his sons, Gregory S. Aubrey of Peoria and William E. Aubrey II (wife, Jean) of La Plume, Pa.; a grandson; three granddaughters; sister, Shirley Bliefnick of Plainfield; two nephews; a niece; and an aunt.
Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Berg officiating. A memorial gathering will be held immediately following.
