William D. Moore
SPRINGFIELD – William D. Moore, 86, of Springfield died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born Oct. 31, 1921, the son of Daniel I. and Margaret Moore.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Virginia (nee McAdams); nine brothers; a sister; an infant son; and an infant grandson.
Bill, a World War II veteran, is survived by 10 children, Sister Peggy, OSU of St. Louis, David (Jenny) and Brian, both of Springfield, Penny Swigert of Divernon, Denise (David) Rau of Waukasha, Wis., Kevin of Decatur, Ala., Joseph (Nancy) of Chatham, Barbara (Rick) Polic of Dawson, Michelle (Mark Smith) of Kansas City, Mo., and Andrew of Lexington, Ky.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and more than 40 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with the Rev. Jim Gahan officiating. Interment will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
