William Alfred Roberts Sr., 79 of Springfield died at 6:29 am Thursday, October 25, 2012. He was born July 28, 1933 in Kilbourne, IL to William Fred and Gracie Mae (Thomas) Roberts. He married Mary Myers and she survives.
Also surviving are his 6 children, Juanita Miller, Bill Roberts Jr., George Roberts, Sr., Fred Roberts, Mary Mae Klee and Billie Lee Roberts, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 6 sisters and 1 brother, Frank Roberts.
William was a United States Army Veteran and was self-employed.
Private services: Private services will be held. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My memories of Uncle Billy are all from my childhood. I remember him as being a lot of fun and taking a lot of time to entertain me. I am sorry to hear of his passing. My mother, Vivian, who passed away last year, spoke of Uncle Billy affectionately.
