Franciscan family of the Sacred Heart Province
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Franciscan Friar of the Sacred Heart Province for 80 years and a Franciscan Priest for 73 years. Fr. Wilbert served many years as director of retreats for men and women of the Chicago and surrounding area. He served in the Army as a chaplain during WWII and played a very important role as an interpreter. He also served in various parishes in the Midwest.
Fr. Wilbert was a very outgoing person who enjoyed sharing his life experiences with everyone. His sense of humor and amazing ability to recall events that took place many years ago was a magnet for listening ears. World War II had a profound impact on his life. He provided spiritual care to thousands of men and women in the military service.
Special thanks to the staff at Loretto Home and to the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis for the care and love they provided Fr. Wilbert.
