Wayne Carl Fay
SPRINGFIELD – Wayne Carl Fay, 81, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
He was born April 26, 1929, in Holt, Michigan, the son of Cora Lou (Hall) Fay and Elmer Dewey Fay. He married June Pearl (Techtman) Fay on April 16, 1949.
Wayne was formerly employed by Richardson Company in DeKalb, Illinois, which subsequently changed its name to Spaulding Fiber Co. before his retirement. He had served in the Naval Reserve for four years. Most recently, he was employed at Big R in Springfield.
He was an avid gardener, bird watcher, reader and fisherman. He enjoyed making his friends laugh and truly loved the people he worshiped with at Cherry Hills Baptist Church and worked with at Big R.
He is survived by his wife, of Springfield; bothers, Ronald of Sierra Vista AZ, Lawrence of Chino Hills CA and John of Grand Rapids MI; daughters, Vicky Barbara Weber of Pinckneyville MI and Ruth Ann Palmer of Palmyra VA; and sons, John Carl Fay (wife, Patricia) of Sycamore IL, Andy William (Ramsey) Fay (wife, Barbara) of Rockford IL and James Wayne Fay of Petersburg.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou (Fay) Lineberry and his granddaughter, Bethany Jean Fay.
Wayne’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at St. John’s Hospice for the loving care they provided over the last several days.
The family will be hosting a memorial service to be held on Monday, May 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, 2125 Woodside Road, Springfield, Illinois.
