Ward W. Evans
SPRINGFIELD – Ward W. Evans, 76, of Springfield died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Crawford County, the son of DeLance Nixon Nix and Hazel Belle Anderson Evans. He married Mary Ann Huff on Aug. 31, 1957.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ruth Patelski.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Evans of Springfield; three children, Bill, Karen and Chris Evans, all of Springfield; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Ward was a resident of Springfield for 42 years. He worked for CWLP as an operating engineer. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Operating Engineer Local 399. He was a veteran of the Army and Air National Guard.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Bishop Bryon Andreasen officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Parkinson Disease Research.
