Wanda M. Barlick
Wanda M. Barlick, 76 of Springfield, IL died Monday, April 25, 2016, at her home of a broken heart and now she can be at peace with the love of her life. She was born August 10, 1939, in Springfield the daughter of James and Hester White Farley. She married John Louis Barlick III on September 28, 1957, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2016.
Wanda is survived by three daughters; Janene (Dell) Drumeller of White Hall, Dawn (Jerry) Hirlinger of Springfield, Jackie (David) Carr of St. Louis; one son, John Louis Barlick IV, of Springfield, eight grandchildren, Michelle Ulinski, Andrew Barlick, Amber (Tim) Wright, Samuel John (Sara) Drumeller, Daniel Wade (Jackie) Drumeller, Louie and Jack Hirlinger and Courtney Carr; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Colin and Avery Marie, one sister-in-law, Kathryn O’Connor of Springfield; one brother-in-law, Chuck Reynolds of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her lovable devoted Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog, “Sir Bentley.”
She was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She was so energetic and loved people.
Wanda was a member of St. Agnes Church. She worked as a cook several years at St. Francis Convent and also worked in the jewelry department at K-mart off Clearlake, before working a twenty year career with the State Department of Secretary of State.
She was a member of the German Club, Bunco Club, Red Hat Club and Swim Club. Wanda enjoyed working with her hands. She could do anything she set her mind to. She was an avid quilter and loved sewing. She could crochet and enjoyed creating crafts. She and her husband were frequent travelers. After retirement they fulfilled their dream of building a new home in Arkansas on Crown Lake where they hosted many parties for family and friends. They loved spending time with their children and grandchildren running to all their events and enjoyed cheering them on in whatever they were active in and it wouldn’t be the same without treating everyone to pizza afterwards.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
Private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
