Virginia Means
Virginia E. Means, 85, of Springfield, died at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 31, 1926 in Springfield to Phillip N. and Emma Craterfield
Irving. She married William V. Means, February 14, 1948. He preceded her in death July 29, 1985. Her parents and one brother, Phillip E. Irving also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne (Dick) Schmuck of Virginia, IL; one son, Richard E. Means of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Alicia Lynn (Chad) Wester; Justin Schmuck and Matthew (Alicia Jane) Schmuck; two great grandchildren, Edie and Margot; two nephews and several cousins.
Virginia was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was self employed in child care, owning and operating ABC Day Care since 1965. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and collecting frogs. Virginia was a lifetime member of Capital Area Association for the Education of Young Children.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p..m, Monday, December 3, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Swickard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Children’s Miracle Network, Make A Wish Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Children.
