Virginia Gebhart
Virginia Gebhart passed away Thursday, October 30th at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born January 21, 1919 in Sangamon County, near Pleasant Plains, the daughter of William and Helen Harnsberger Walbaum.
She attended rural grade school and graduated from Pleasant Plains Township High School in 1936. She then attended Blackburn College. She worked for many years in the Sangamon County Probate Clerks office and then as an Executive Secretary at First National Bank.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland for eighty-five years. She was an active member of National Secretaries for many years; home extension and two women’s clubs.
She was born and raised on a farm and worked with her dad at a very young age. She drove horses, a tractor and a truck before the age of 12. Virginia enjoyed people, traveling and her family.
She married Francis Gebhart in 1975 and he preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Kapik of Lincoln and Lucile Johnson of Ashland; one niece, Ruth Molares of Cumming, GA; two nephews, Tom (Patricia) Johnson of Pleasant Plains and Bob Johnson of New Berlin; Two great nephews, Brent (Elizabeth) Johnson of Springfield and Carlo Molares of Orlando, FL; two great nieces, Lindsay Johnson of Springfield and Veronica Molares of Cumming, GA and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation: 4-6 pm, Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home, with additional visitation 10-11 am, Monday, November 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Ashland.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, November 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Ashland. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.

Virginia will be missed. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met.
