Violet Margaret Leone Viola
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Violet Margaret Leone Viola, 87, died at 5:25 am Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born March 25, 1927 in Riverton, IL to Nichola and Anna (DeBartolomeo) Leone. She married Robert “Nick” Viola on April 22, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Beverly Walker; five sisters, Lula Jordan, Lena Leone, Ida Moberly, Elgisa Meale, Rose Capranica and Lena Leone; two brothers: Veito Leone and Dominic Leone; and one grandson, Benjamin Viola.
Violet is survived by one daughter, Deanna (Thomas) Green of Springfield; one son, Steven (Nancy) Viola of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Nicki (John) Palusinski, Angela (Michael) Masse, Michaela (Constatine) Gulgas, Patrick Green, Robert Walker, Jesse (Alex) Mercer, Steven Viola and Anna Viola; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Violet was a resident of Springfield most of her life and a member of St. Aloysius Church. She was the owner and operator of Viola’s Lounge & Package Liquor for 35 years and was also employed with the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and DAV Auxiliary.
Private services were held.
