Violet M. Brickler
Violet M. Brickler, 90, of Springfield, died at 10:06 am, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born May 14, 1928 in Virden, to Leonard D. Westfall and Dorothy L. (Swaringen) Westfall. She married Kenneth W. Brickler on June 3, 1949 and he survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Deborah (Dana) Downs of Kirkwood, MO and Gaile (Jim) Bee of Springfield; one son, Roger (Charlotte) Brickler of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Deanna (Ryan) Wendler-Modde, Bill Benedict (Rosie Fore), Dana Marie (Matt) Scheidt, Valisha (Matt) Zimmer, Adam (Jessica) Brickler, Ashley (Kraig) Kennedy, Timothy (Caitlyn) Bee, and Jonathan Bee; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Jensen of Newport News, VA, Gloria Conray of Macon, GA, and Carolyn Headley of Owosso, MI; two brothers, Dale Westfall of Roscommon, MI and Bill Westfall of Fairview, MI, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jerri Nowlin.
Violet was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. She worked for Springfield School District 186 for over 20 years.
She was a member of Southside Christian Church where she was active in the church and church choir. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets and baking birthday cakes for all of her family.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with John Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pinehaven Christian Childrens Ranch and School, the Alzheimer’s Association, or St. Joseph’s Home.
