Vincenzo Fileccia

January 4, 1928 - March 27, 2013

Vincezo Fileccia, 85, of Springfield, died at 5:18 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 4, 1928 in Palermo, Sicily, to Giuseppe and Angela Campione Fileccia. He married Josephine LoVecchio in 1947 in Palermo and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Angela (Larry) Lichtenberger of Springfield; two grandchildren Robert (Tiffany) Giganti of Bloomington and Erich (Andrea) Lichtenberger of Springfield; six great grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Drake, Andrew, Ian, Noah, Elijah and Isaiah.

Mr. Fileccia came to the United States in 1972 to be close to his daughter. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was a tailor by trade and worked for Robert Brothers and Myers Brothers. He retired from the Illinois State Police after 20 years.

Vincezo would love to thank Bob and Cheryl Hicks, who helped him go through a difficult time and also he would like to thank Andrea for being there for all of us.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Agnes Church.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
