SPRINGFIELD— Vera M. Krouse, 88, of Springfield passed away Wednesday January 7, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. She was born June 7, 1920, in Blue Mound, the daughter of Franklin and Della Thompson Norman. She married Harry L. Krouse on June 17, 1945, in Pawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Iris Stuart of Pawnee, and Frances DeLay, of Pleasant Plains, and a brother, Donald Norman of Louisiana, MO. She is survived by her husband, Harry, her sister Geneva Weber of Pawnee, a son Dale (Neila) Krouse of Athens, and a daughter Cheryl (John) Warren of Springfield. In addition she is survived by three grandchildren Jeanette (companion Terry Thresher) of Waverly, David (Traci) Krouse of Greenwood, IN, and Sr. Airman Jonathan Krouse of Bossier City, LA; three step-grandchildren Bobby (Stephanie) Tucker of Springfield, 1st LT Brent (Heather) Warren of Pensacola, FL, Jessica (Fiancé Cory Robinson) Warren of Chatham. There are 5 great grandchildren, Jesse, Austin, Jacob, Hannah, and Katie and 5 step great grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Alexandra, Bryce and Ian. There are several nieces and nephews as well.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women’s Circle, and United Methodist Women, Past Matron of Flower City Chapter #152, Order of the Eastern Star, Abeba Temple #42, Daughters of the Nile. She also loved raising flowers, doing various types of crafts and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Staab
Funeral Home, 1109 S. 5th St., Springfield, IL. There will be an Eastern Star
Service at 6:45 pm. There will be a lie-in-state from 9-10 am Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at First United Methodist Church with Funeral Services there at 10:00 am Friday, January 9, 2009 with the Rev. Vince Rohn officiating. Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to Shriner’s Hospital
