Vaviel L. Flood
Vaviel L. Flood, 83, of Springfield, died at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at her home. She was born on May 8, 1930 in Granite City to the late Albert and Jessie Arnold Pressly. She married James L. Flood on September 7, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2008.
Vaviel is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (companion Jeff Northcutt) Pinkley of Springfield; two sons, Kevin (Joyce) Flood of Auburn and Randy (Wanda) Flood of Springfield; two grandchildren, Trevor and Kendra Pinkley; three sisters, Colleen Flood of Springfield, Wilma Eastburn of Lebanon, MO and Fern (Gary) Pinkley of Springfield; one brother, Kenneth (Becky) Pressly of MS and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Calvary Temple Church. She was previously active as a Sunday School teacher and worked with the Missionettes at First Assembly of God Church. She had worked as a dental assistant for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going on family vacations. After retirement, she and Jim traveled to all but one of the 50 states.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 12 Noon Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
