Troy D. Busby, Sr.
Troy D. Busby, Sr., 89, of Springfield, died at 6:12 am, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born October 19, 1925 in Witt, to Jesse Gail and Minnie Morgan Busby.
He married Betty Arlene Evans on May 10, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracy N. Morgan of Springfield and The Reverend Kathleen C. (The Rev. William Waff, Major General, U.S. Army) Busby of Gurnee; one son, Troy D. Busby, Jr. of Springfield; one granddaughter, Meaghan Waff; one brother, Jerry Busby of Palmetto, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers, Miles, Wesley and Byron.
Troy was a Merchant Marine and a US Army veteran serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post #32. He loved fishing with his brothers and friends, woodworking, and listening to big band music.
He retired as a tool & die maker for Cutler-Hammer in Lincoln.
Visitation: 10am – 12 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Chaplain John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Winchester Cemetery.
