Travis Nathaniel Thiel
Travis Nathaniel Thiel, 6, of Springfield, received his angel wings at 7:20 am, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born January 19, 2005 in Springfield to Annette Ater and Ian Thiel.
He is survived by his mother Annette Ater of Springfield; father Ian Thiel of Prairie du Chein, WI; one brother Trevor Jacob Thiel; half-brother, Nicholas Scott Thiel; maternal grandparents Nora Ater and Dale Ater, Sr. both of Springfield; paternal grandmother Deborah (John) Gleason of Prairie du Chien, WI; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa John Thiel.
Travis fought a courageous two year and ten month battle with JMML and NF1 Cancer. He was a Children’s Miracle Network child; National Air Force Honorary Guard member and a honorary Fireman with the St. Louis University Fire Department. He received assistance from the National Children’s Cancer Society. He enjoyed watching and playing with Ben’s Ten and Handy Manny and playing with his water guns with which he “attacked” many Doctors, Nurses and Security Guards at the hospitals. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. John’s Children’s Hospital and Hematology/Oncology office.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Austin officiating. Private burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.

To my sweet ANGEL it has been a year ago since you went to be with JESUS. We miss you so much, we love you so much. We visit your grave several times a week. I know you are no longer in pain, no longer sick. Even though you are not with us in body, you are always close by in are hearts.We will all see you again we JESUS calls us home to be with you. Until then just know we love and miss you lots.
