Thomas S. Mulcahy
SPRINGFIELD – Thomas S. Mulcahy II, 86, of Springfield died at 8:03 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1923, in Springfield, the son of Thomas and Vina Ellen Rankin Mulcahy Sr. He married Stella Tipsword on Sept. 30, 1950.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Bob; and a sister, Donna M. Beggs.
He is survived by his wife, Stella M. Mulcahy of Springfield; three daughters, Deborah (Frank) Fulscher of Riverton, Donna Graves of Springfield and Diana (Jim) Burnett of Dawson; two sons, Thomas S. (Connie) Mulcahy III and Brian Kelly (Paula) Mulcahy, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Devin McQuinn, Jamie (Greg) Fletcher, Austyn Mulcahy, Kristi Jo and Lenzy Le Mulcahy and Christopher (Lindsey) Fulscher; two sisters, Mary Lou Fox of Franklin, Ind., and Caroline Carson of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas lived in Springfield for most of his life.
He was the owner and operator of Mulcahy and Sons Oil Co., retiring in 1968 after 45 years. He also worked at Mulcahy’s Livestock Inc. until his death. He was founder of Riverside Stables.
Thomas was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II, receiving a Good Conduct medal, American Theatre ribbon and World War II Victory medal. He loved spending time with his family and loved his grandchildren dearly.
Private graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with William Carson officiating and where military honors will be conducted.
