Thomas O. Campbell
SPRINGFIELD – Thomas O. Campbell, 79, of Springfield died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born on July 16, 1928, in Clevland, the son of Kenneth and Lucille DeVeny Campbell. He married Shirley Woodard on Oct. 17, 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Pat.
He is survived by his wife; a niece; three nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Thomas retired from the state of Illinois Comptroller’s office in December 1997 and worked for Bruce Music Co. for 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the USS Toledo Association, a lifelong member of the United States Navy Club of America Sangamon Ship 32, and Eagles Club Aerie 437.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
