Thomas N. Wetherell
Thomas N. Wetherell, OMT, 89, of Springfield, died at 1:20 am Friday, June 24, 2016 at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. He was born in Lebanon, MO to Robert C. and Norma Maxine (McSpadden) Wetherell on May 5, 1927. He married Bonnie L. Bowles on February 19, 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Wetherell; one daughter, Julie (Bruce) Wallbaum of Springfield; three sons, Mark (Dagmar), Milt (Tricia) and Matt (Rebecca) Wetherell all of Springfield; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Mike (Sally) Wetherell of Helena, MT; and several nieces, nephew, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Jr. and David Wetherell.
Tom was a resident of Springfield since 1986 and previously a resident of Jacksonville, IL, Seattle, WA and Montana.
Tom achieved the rank of Eagle Scout prior to serving in the United States Army during the WWII era. He was a graduate of Parkville High School in Parkville, MO and was a civil engineering graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Tom was the Owner/Operator of Big R in Springfield, Taylorville, and Lincoln and was a member and Deacon of Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Monday, June 27, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home. An Additional visitation will be held 10:30-11:30 am on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Keppler officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

It was with great sadness that I saw in the paper of Tom's death. He was such a beautiful spirit. Having had the privilege of working for Tom, and Bonnie, I got to see the working side of Tom, which is often were people are at their "less than best". However, Tom was fabulous to work with/for. He was always good to me, and had a sweet attitude. My prayers are with his family.
