Thomas M. Schnirring
Thomas Martin Schnirring, 83, of Springfield, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012. He was born January 16th, 1929 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Earl and Irene Schnirring. He married Mary Frances (Bramlet) on January 22, 1949. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Mary; Sons Thomas Schnirring of Petersburg, Richard Schnirring of Houston, TX, and Michael Schnirring and Lorraine Painter of New Berlin; Daughters Mary Lynn (Schnirring) Kodrich (husband Michael) of Scottsdale, AZ and Susan (Schnirring) Miller (husband Todd) of Springfield, IL, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Mark Schnirring and daughter in law Cynthia Schnirring. He retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 48 years of employment.
He loved spending time with family and friends, volunteering at Sacred Heart Church, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and harassing Cub fans.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Staab Funeral Home.
A second visitation will be held from 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 until time of funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 with Reverend Charles Dahlby officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in lieu of flowers.
