Thomas Kasper, Jr.
Thomas Kasper, Jr., 85, of Riverton died at 9:00 am Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born May 25, 1929 in Riverton to Thomas G. and Theresa Vala Kasper. He married LaTece Snell on February 14, 1953 and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, John Kasper.
Mr. Kasper was a member of St. James Church in Riverton. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Riverton Village Board and School Board for many years. He also served on the Riverton Fire Department. He was a Cub Master of the Riverton Club Scout Troop for years. Thomas worked at Allis Chalmers, was a member of Carpenter’s Local #16 and retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Pinneo and Lori Kasper; two sons ,James (Vaughn) Kasper and Richard Kasper, all of Riverton; three granddaughters, six grandsons; four great grandchildren; one brother, George (Treva) Kasper of Springfield, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm.
Funeral Mass: 9:00 am Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. James Church in Riverton with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
