Thomas J. "Tom" Mussatt
Thomas J. “Tom” Mussatt, 83, of Riverton, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on April 8, 1928 in Springfield, IL to Thomas and Magdalena Mravec Mussatt. He married Jennie R. Santarelli on September 11, 1954 and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2011.
Tom is survived by a daughter Roseanne “Roe” (Andrew) Stone of Springfield, one son, Tom (Susan) Mussatt of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Theresa Workman of Springfield and Mary Ip of Honolulu, Hawaii, 3 grandchildren: Courtney and Christopher Mussatt and Drew Stone, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was a resident of Riverton most of his life and worked as an engineer for Sangamo Electric and Dickey John Corp. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran and member of the Sangamon Valley Radio Club, Knights of Columbus in Riverton, and the American Legion Post 32. He was a member of St. James Church in Riverton. Tom was a former Chief of the Riverton Fire Dept and also served on the Riverton School Board for many years.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. A second visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church in Riverton.
Funeral Mass: 9 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. James Church with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorials may be given to the Riverton Fire and EMS.
