SPRINGFIELD – Thomas Tom Hugh Brennan, 58, of Springfield died at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Springfield, the son of Thomas Joseph and Dorothy McShane Brennan. He married Drucilla Dinardo on Oct. 8, 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Bernadette Davis; and a brother-in-law, Pete Dinardo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Malissa Brennan of Springfield; a grandson, Toby Michael of Springfield; two sisters, Mary Catherine Brennan of Petersburg and Jeannine (husband, Daniel) Detwiler of Springfield; a brother, Martin Edward (wife, Sarah) Brennan of Rochelle; five sisters-in-law, Ada (husband, Tony) Henn of Chatham, Santa Marie (husband, Tom) Janssen of Springfield, Mary Dinardo of Springfield, Angela Veach of Riverton and Robin Dinardo of Springfield; five brothers-in-law, Carmen Dinardo of Springfield, Sam Dinardo of Lincoln, Joe (companion, Mary Williams) Dinardo of Springfield, Gene Dinardo of Springfield and Joe Davis of Chatham; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was a resident of Springfield for most of his life. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a computer engineer. He was also a former partner in ELLR Consulting.

He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed playing poker and being with his family. He enjoyed taking his grandson for walks and fishing. He was always ready to help anyone in need. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in computer engineering. He was an avid Cubs and Illini fan.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark E. Gifford officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the SIU Cancer Institute, Kumler Food Bank or Kumler Neighborhood Ministries Medicine Program.
