Thomas E. Mounce
Thomas Edward Mounce was born on January 2, 1941 to Allen and Josephine Reynolds Mounce. He died December 31, 2017 two days shy of his 77th birthday at the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield, IL.
Tom graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in Central Illinois and then served in the United States Air Force. He spent most of his career selling insurance in Central Illinois. He moved to Florida in 1984 with his wife Jennie whom he married in 1987. While in Florida Tom was a long-haul truck driver.
In his free time, Tom loved to golf and travel. He was an active member of High Point Golf Club and served as Club President from 2009-2011. A life-long Chicago Cubs fan, Tom lived to see the Cubs win a World Series.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; three older brothers, James, Allen “Jerry”, and Joseph Mounce; one great nephew, Jesse Mounce and a great niece, Wendy.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jennie; his sister, Rita Torey; his children, Anna (Jeffrey) Smith, Charlene (Steve) Stengel, Thomas (Tracie) Mounce, and Shawn (Reese) Mounce; grandchildren, Heather, Derek, Jack, Anna, Brittney, and Savannah; a great-granddaughter Lacei; stepsons, Brian and Brad Elder, and step grandchildren, Nicole and Jacob.
The family will be hosting a memorial mass at 11 am, Thursday, January 11, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Decatur.
