Sylvia J. Brown
Sylvia J. Brown, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. She was born February 10, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Sylvester and Sarah (Davis) Woods who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are one daughter, Asia Jimenez; and two brothers, Roy and Calvin Woods.
Survivors include two sons, Omar Davis of Springfield and Rashied Brown of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Elijah Jimenez, Eboni Gardner, Elysa Jimenez, Kane Davis, Kaleb Davis, Corey Brown, and Abigail Ashley Brown; three great-grandchildren, Comaunna, Skyy and Dominque; and three brothers, Louis Gray, George Woods, and Lamorn Grimes, all of St. Louis.
Sylvia was a resident of St. Louis for most of her life, formerly of Dallas, TX, before moving to Springfield. She worked as an insurance agent for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and achieved many accomplishments as an insurance agent. She was a member of The Potter’s House and also served as a teacher of the Word of God. While in Dallas she owned a restaurant called Chicken & Fish.
Sylvia was also a United States Army veteran.
Visitation: 11 – 12 pm, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Private Funeral Service: Livestream of Sylvia’s funeral will be available on Staab Funeral Homes’ YouTube Channel at 12:15 pm, Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Military honors will also be conducted by the United States Army. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
