Stephen L. Kerasotes
Stephen L. Kerasotes, 86, of Springfield, died at 6:02 pm, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1929 in Springfield, to Louis and Georgia Spirakes Kerasotes.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Smetana of Mission Viejo, CA; one son, Mark (Janet) Kerasotes of Peru, IL; five grandsons, Chris, John, Nick, Brian and Andrew; two sisters, Christine (Nick) Yiannis of Dubuque, IA and Virginia (Pat) Panici of Chicago; former wife, Patricia Kerasotes of Mission Viejo, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friend, Natalie Clarke of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George.
Stephen was an avid golfer, especially loved playing at Bergen Park, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He was a loving father and grandfather and a friend to many.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church and a graduate of Lanphier High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked in the family theater business.
Visitation: 9-10 am Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church with Reverend George Pyle and Reverend Andrew Kishler officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
