Stephen G. Albert
SPRINGFIELD – Stephen G. Albert, 90, of Springfield died at 6:07 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Springfield, the son of Michael and Mary Roth Albert. He married Mary Ann Aubel on June 11, 1966.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella; a daughter, Elaine McMullen; six brothers, George, Michael, Emerich, John, Enoch and Joe; three sisters, Mary Urban, Ann Rudolph and an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Albert of Springfield; three daughters, Janet (husband, Roger) Cheek and Virginia Hofman, both of Springfield, and Patricia (husband, Delmer) Masten of Havana; stepchildren, Marianne (husband, Donald) Trussel of Tallahassee, Fla., and John (wife, Gayle) Aubel of Chandler, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stephen was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
He was a retired cabinetmaker and carpenter with Capitol Woodworks and School District 186.
He was a member of St. Aloysius, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, Carpenters Union, United Commercial Travelers and AARP. He enjoyed gardening and listening to Lawrence Welk and in his younger years he enjoyed dancing.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Chris House officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
