Sr. Mary Morin, O.S.F.
Sister Mary Morin, O.S.F. (85) of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 3:03 p.m. at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Illinois.
Sister Mary, the former Mary Stella Morin, was born in St. Albans, Vermont, on January 15, 1930, the daughter of William and Mederise Ladouceur Morin. She entered the Congregation on February 2, 1951 and professed her religious vows on October 4, 1953.
Sister was a graduate of St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing. She obtained a BSN from St. Louis University in 1961 and an MA from University of Illinois (Sangamon State University) in 1974. She served in various nursing capacities at HSHS hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. Sister was a nursing instructor at Lincoln Land Community College from 1972 until 1978 and again from 1981 until 1996. She served as a Provincial Councilor from 1999 until 2007.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Georgette M. Morin, Cecile Goodrich, Florence Kokocinski, Christina Lorraine, Bertha Baker and Noella Zimmerman.
She is survived by one sister, Rita Russo, of Plattsburgh, New York, several nieces and nephews, as well as her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for 65 years.
Visitation will be held at the St. Francis Convent from 4:00-7:00 PM with a Wake Service at 6:00 PM on Monday, December 21, 2015.
The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Andre Schludecker, OFM on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at the St. Francis Convent.
Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
