Sister Mary Ann Vogt
Sister Mary Ann Vogt (91) of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 9:55 PM at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, IL.
Sister Mary Ann was born in Effingham, IL, on February 16, 1922, the daughter of Clem and Josephine Feldhake Vogt. She entered the Congregation on September 8, 1941, and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1944.
Sister Mary Ann served the community as a cook in hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. She also served as cook at St. Isabel’s Mission in Lukachukai, AZ, from 1962 – 1975 and at the Franciscan Apostolic Center from 1982 – 1991. She served at the Information Desk at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL, from 1991 until she returned to St. Francis Convent in 2000.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Vogt.
She is survived by three brothers: Bernard (Barbara) Vogt, Clem (Doris) Vogt, and Paul (Marcella) Vogt; and three sisters: Catherine Westendorf, Ann Ruhold, and Stella Westendorf; many nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for over 70 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis Convent on Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 4:00-7:00 PM with a Wake Service at 6:30 PM. The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Sullivan, OFM, on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at St.
Francis Convent. Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
