Sister M. Agnes McDougall, O.S.F.
Sister M. Agnes McDougall, O.S.F. (82) of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 12:20 a.m. at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Illinois.
Sister Agnes was born in Indianapolis, IN, on February 26, 1933, the daughter of John and Agnes Cooper McDougall. She entered the Congregation on September 12, 1951, and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1954. Sister Agnes was a graduate of St. John’s School of Nursing, Springfield, IL. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marillac College, Normandy, MO, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. She served as a nurse in various hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition, she served as a nursing instructor, assistant director, and director at St. John’s School of Nursing, Springfield, IL, and as a nursing instructor at State Community College, East St. Louis, IL; Richland Community College, Decatur, IL; and Kaskaskia College, Centralia, IL. She also served in several offices of the Illinois Department of Registration and Education.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: John H. McDougall.
She is by survived one sister, Margaret Cravens of Hazelwood, MO, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for almost 64 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis Convent from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, with a Wake Service at 6:00 PM. The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Sullivan, OFM, on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church at St. Francis Convent.
Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
