Samuel J. Vicari
Samuel J. Vicari, 91, of Springfield, died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on October 23, 1922 in Springfield to Thomas and Rosaria Licata Vicari, Sr. He married Mary J. Randazzo on September 3, 1955 and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five sisters; Virginia, Mary, Rose, Virginia and Agnes, and three brothers; Steve, Joseph and Tom.
He is survived by one daughter, Rosaria Vicari of Springfield; one son, Thomas S. Vicari of Hillsborough, NJ; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Samuel was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was an Army Veteran serving in World War II in the 860th Engineering Aviation Battalion in the South Pacific. He was a life member of VFW 755 and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #364.
Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and the US Army will conduct military honors.

Sending love and strength to my dad and my Aunt today. I have so many vibrant, vivid memories of my Grandfather. I will miss him dearly but his memory will always be clear in my mind.
