Salome "Sally" Mosteika
Salome “Sally” Mosteika, 100, of Springfield, died at 4:47 am, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at her home. She was born December 17, 1913 in Springfield, to John and Anna Kienzler Lofy. She married Joseph Mosteika in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Sharon Masterson of Springfield, Jim (Judy) Masterson of Chesterfield, MO, Carol (Bill) Pennell of Chatham, Joe Lofy of Chicago, Jack (Eileen) Lofy of Danville, CA, Greg Lofy of Springfield, Trudy (Chuck) Best of Chatham and Susan Bensko of Mt. Pulaski; numerous great nieces and great nephews, including Colleen (Coady) Finfrock of Rochester and Mickey Coady of Colorado; eight great great nieces and nephews and several great great great nieces and nephews.
Sally was a member of Christ the King Church where she volunteered for fifteen years and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Bridge and Bunco Clubs and the Garden Club. She liked to travel and enjoyed gambling at the boat.
Gathering: 9 am until time of funeral mass at 10 am, Friday, October 17, 2014 at Christ the King Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, October 17, 2014 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Children’s Home of Alton, Christ the King Church or the American Heart Association.
