Ruth "Dolly" Alwerdt

Ruth E. “Dolly” Alwerdt, 86, of Springfield, died at 3:00 am, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Heritage Health in Jacksonville. She was born March 11, 1928 in Springfield, to Carl and Amelia Stach Kochmann. She married Wilbert D. Alwerdt on November 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Susan) Alwerdt of Franklin and David (Manon) Alwerdt of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren, Jessica (Greg) Wilcox, Jeremiah (Melissa) Alwerdt, Krista Moffett and Brittany (Michael) DePhillips and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Kaitlyn Alwerdt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Douglas Alwerdt; grandson, Cody Alwerdt; two brothers and six sisters.

Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She retired from the State of Illinois after thirty-five years of service. She volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for eighteen years and also at Lutheran High School and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed visiting with family, traveling and outdoor activities.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Darrell Debowey officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery
