Rose Marie Moore
Rose Marie (Rosie) Majewski Moore, 95, died at 7:22 pm Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Capitol Health Center after a valiant battle with lengthy illness.
Born July 18, 1919 in Morgantown, WV to John and Johanna Majewski, she was a lifelong resident of Springfield and wife of the late Thomas J. Moore to whom she was married in 1940. She was preceded in death by all 7 of her elder siblings.
Rose was a devoted wife and the beloved Mother of four children: Maureen (Nicholas) Derchak of Salt Lake City, UT, Kathleen (William) Farling of Weaverville, NC, Terrence (Mary Beth Roseberry) Moore of Rochester, Dennis (Suzanne) Moore of Springfield, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Christ the King Parish.
When asked for her life accomplishments, she said: the joy and pride of being a Mother and the satisfaction of working with her husband in the design and the construction of their Jerome family home. She never thought she’d live to see so many world changes. Rose was very proud of her Polish heritage. She loved spending time with family and took delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s milestone events. She enjoyed the travel opportunities that came to her late in life even taking a glider ride on her 75th birthday. Rose was amazingly creative, designed and made clothing and doll wardrobes, enjoyed cooking, and liked feeding “her” backyard birds and tending her yard. Her mantra, “Always do your very best” will always be held close in the hearts of her loving family.
Any memorial donations may be made to either Lincoln Memorial Gardens or the Washington Park Rose Garden in her memory. Special thanks to her favorite caregivers at Capitol Health Center and Dr. Stefan Kozak. “The Queen Mum – Our Rose,” will be missed, but there is comfort knowing the relief from pain and the peace she so longed for has finally come.
There will be no visitation and burial services will be private. Her family will hold a “celebration of her life” and a Memorial Mass at a future date. Online Condolences are welcomed and can be made at StaabFamily.com
