Rose Marie Harvill, 83, of Springfield, passed away Thursday morning December 22, 2011 at home with family. She was born October 12, 1928, in Springfield to William Martin Ryan and Emma Amelia Dollar. Rose married William Perry Harvill Sr. in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Also preceding her in death are two brothers.
She was a resident of Springfield all of her life where she held several jobs as a young woman, including at Piggly Wiggly where she met Bill. Rose was a homemaker and an avid bowler while the children were growing. She volunteered at the Lincoln Library Sangamon Valley Collection and her church. Later, she worked at the Department of Revenue where she retired. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was known to be an excellent cook. Rose enjoyed many Florida vacations with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Mari of Springfield, William P. Harvill, Jr. of Racine, WI, four grandchildren Richard Mari III of Springfield, Michele Harvill of Racine, WI, Stephanie Harvill of Racine, WI and William P. Harvill III of Racine, WI, six great grandchildren, Gabriel Mari, Makayla and Caden Scheit, Ellah, Ashlyn and Kaya Mari, one sister, Dorothy Jameson of Springfield, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 8-9 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
