Rose A. Tolle
Rose A. Tolle, 85, died December 6 in Springfield, IL. Born Rose Arlayne Jiricek in 1930 in Tyndall, South Dakota, she married Lawrence L. Tolle in 1949. They lived in many towns and states from the Dakotas to Missouri as Larry worked construction building dams and bridges and they grew to a family of 5. In the 1950’s, they moved to the NW Chicago suburbs, where Rose worked as a school librarian in Mt. Prospect. She went back to school in her 40’s to fulfill her life-long dream of being a hairdresser. In 1989, they retired to Springfield. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, country music, sewing, and playing cards. Rose also took up making quilts and joined the Springfield Quilt Guild. Rose made many quilts for her family, and she and her daughter collaborated on many quilts donated to the Alzheimer’s Association for fundraisers. Rose was a loving wife and a doting mother and grandmother, putting family above all.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 1998; her sons Gary and David in 2006; her parents William and Bessie Jiricek; brothers Sylvan (Shorty), Dick, Melvin, Myron, Willard, John, and Raymond; and sisters, Verna and Shirley.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Tolle Burger, daughter-in-law, Deborah (Gary) Tolle, grandson Christopher (Becky) Tolle, granddaughter Jennifer Tolle Kurtz, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday December 9 from 4:30 pm till time of service at 6 pm, officiated by Robert Green, at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. 5th Street, in Springfield.
Funeral Service: Family and close friends will gather for a brief inurnment service at Camp Butler National Cemetery 1:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged for the Alzheimer’s Association.
