SPRINGFIELD – Rosalie Wood, 76, of Springfield passed away at 6:10 P.M. on Friday, March 27th, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born October 20th, 1932, in Elkhart, Illinois, the daughter of Rosier H. and Thelma (Bosaw) Harriss. She married Walter L.M. Wood on September 16th, 1950, in Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Harriss; stepbrothers, Louis and William Walls; and stepsister, Mary Ann Walls.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; sons, Keith Woody (Flo) Wood and C.J. (Stacey) Wood; daughters, Deb (Ed) Smith, Kathy (Kevin) Groesch and Nancy (Phil) Bosie; brother, Carl (Miriam) Harriss; stepsister, Lorraine (George) Taylor; 12 grandchildren, Don, Chris, and Craig (Heather) Smith, Michelle (Scott) Bee, Jen (Ron) Holliday, Kevin and Kristy Groesch, Michael Chapman, Kayla and Bradley Bosie, Michael and Lindsey Wood;
and 16 great-grandchildren.
She retired in 2008 from The IL. Dept. of Aging in Springfield after 20 years.
She was a member of Calvary Temple Christian Center, where she participated in a Life Group, had assisted in the nursery and volunteered for many years at the Hope Thrift Center. She loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also enjoyed reading and gardening. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 30th, 2009, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 31st, at Calvary Temple Christian Center. Reverend Paul Rose will officiate. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
