Ronald "Ron" J. "Roadkill" Carron
Ronald J. “Ron” “Roadkill” Carron, 72, of Springfield, passed away on September 4, 2021 at home. He was born on March 22, 1949 in St. Louis, MO to Archie Carron and Shelva Jean (Cauley) Carron, and they preceded him in death. He married Luann “Herman” Hoefle on June 7, 1980, and she survives.
He is survived by four children: Brian (Kristy) Carron, and Rebecca (Dan) Gilmore of Havana, Shelly (Ernie) Allen of Springfield and David (Sarah) Carron of Girard, nine grandchildren: Preston and Azariah Carron, Haley, Erin and Gavin Gilmore, Sydney and Krista Allen, Dean and Everett Carron, six sisters: Connie Thompson and Carol (Steve) Skaer of Millstadt, Sandy (Tim) Clossen of Baldwin, Shirley (Joe) Avellone, Jerri (Ron) Richardson and Wanda Sins, all of Belleville, one brother, Archie (Jeanette) Carron of Belleville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a resident of Springfield. He worked at Fiat Allis for ten years, State of Illinois Revenue, Secretary of State and retired from Illinois Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. Ron served proudly in the United States Marine Corps, Navy Reserves and the Illinois Army National Guard. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 10302, Vietnam Veterans of American, ABATE, NBL (National Bicycle League), Friday Nighters Softball League, Marine Vet Motorcycle Club, Instructor at YMCA. He also worked at Quarter B Farms and the Tim Kinner Farms of Pleasant Plains.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Phil “Pacman” Cornell officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Motorcycles are welcome for the funeral and casual attire and fundraiser shirts are encouraged.
