Ronald E. Jett
Ronald E. Jett, Sr. of Springfield died at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010, at his home. He was born July 27, 1929, in Danvers, Illinois to Thomas and Myrtle Ummel Jett. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Richard Jett; and his former wife, Shirley Jett.
Ronald was a resident of Springfield since 1936. He worked for Sangamo Electric as a machine operator for 32 years and retired from the State of Illinois after 20 years of service with the Secretary of State physical services department.
He was a member of St. Cabrini Church and Prairie Heart Institute Stay-Fit Class. A former member of Prairie Land Dance Club; a member of Masonic Lodge AF&AM #4; Scottish Rite; ANSAR Shrine; Elks Lodge #158; Sangamo Electric Retirees Club. Ronald was an avid outdoorsman, animal lover, and world traveler. He enjoyed reading, camping, hunting, fishing and golf.
Survivors include one daughter Cheryl (Robert) Hayes of Springfield; five sons John Jett of Galesburg, Ronald (Marsha), Dan, Bill (Kathy) and David (Tammy) Jett all of Springfield; companion, Helen Muncy of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother Robert (Cathy) Jett of Chatham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. A Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Cabrini Church, with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery
