Ronald E. Estes, Sr. of Pleasant Plains, died at 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born November 24, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Paul and Norma Pearson Estes, Sr. He married Mary Lou Dudley on August 15, 1981. He was preceded in death by his father, 1 daughter: Monica Portwood-Chaffin and several aunts and uncles.

Ronald is survived by his mother, Norma Estes of Springfield, his wife Mary Lou Estes of Pleasant Plains, 2 daughters: Janet (Richard) Hackney of Decatur and Mary Ann (Jeff) Geller of Rochester, 2 sons: Ronald E (Shannon) Estes, Jr. of Chatham and David (Krista) Estes of Springfield; 12 Grandchildren: Kandice (Ron) Byers, Katie Estes, Jami Birchard, Amanda Birchard, Jeffrey Seals, Alexis Seals, Zachary Geller, Zane Geller, Nathan Estes, Ryan Estes, Payton Estes and Sydnee Estes, 3 great grandchildren: Ayden Smith, Madison Smith and Khloe Smith; 5 sisters: Bev (Richard) Harris of Springfield, Karen Norris of Dawson, Judy (Troy) Curley of Springfield, Barb (Charles) Bumgarner of Bryson City, NC, Pam (Carlos) Clemente of Springfield, 3 brothers: Paul V. (Elaine) Estes, Gary (Robin) Estes and Bob (Janice) Estes all of Springfield, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ronald was of the Southern Baptist Faith. He was a former member of the Ansar Shrine and the Aqua Sports Club. He loved golfing, deer hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was an avid Western movie fan and enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports. Ronald was owner and operator of R & M Plumbing, Heating and Cooling and worked at various places as a tradesman.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois
