Roberta Joan Hardy
Roberta Joan Hardy, 80, of Springfield, died at 10:50 am, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her home. She was born February 18, 1934 in Springfield, to Joseph A. and Clara E. Dahlkamp Hardy.
She is survived by her brother, William Hardy of Troy, IL; nieces and nephews, Alex (Connie) Hardy of Springfield, Larry Hardy of New Berlin, Susan (Edward) DeWitt of Atlanta, GA, Bill Hardy of Springfield, Cindy (Chuck) Pugh of Troy, Steve Hardy of Athens and Joseph R. Hardy of Springfield and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alvin, Lawrence and Joseph Hardy; one sister, Elda Hardy; two nieces, Judith Ann Hardy and Rosemarie Hardy-White.
Roberta worked for the State of Illinois as a Bureau Chief in the Medical Division of the Department of Public Aid, retiring in 1996.
She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; serving on the Altar Guild and as a member of the Women’s Group and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing BINGO, gambling and painting. She was a former member of a bowling league.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie-in-State: 10-11 am, Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to Concordia Village Activity Fund.
