Robert W. Kaehler
Robert W. Kaehler, 73, of Springfield, IL died at 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1938 in Springfield to Lloyd and Theresa Smith Kaehler. He is preceded in death by his parents and father in law, Louis Petschauer. He married Joyce Petschauer on December 23, 1959.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; one son, Rob (Connie) of Lincoln; one grandchild, Gillian of Hilton Head, SC; his mother in law, Pearl Petschauer of Springfield; three sisters in law, Judith (Robert) Graham of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Ann Scheib of Springfield and Carolyn (Larry) Moore of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob served our country in the United States Army. He was a member and officer of the Elks Lodge #158 and received the Elk Officer of the Year award in 2010. He was also a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge. He was an avid bowler, golfer and hunter and belonged to the Elks Golf League.
After working for the Illinois National Guard for 27 years in Logistics and as a Warrant Officer, Bob then began working for the Department of Defense as an Ammunitions Manager, he retired in 1999. After retirement, he worked part time for the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department as a Court Bailiff.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
Elks Service: 9:45 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with David McDonald officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Elk’s Crippled Children Fund.
