SPRINGFIELD – Robert W. Bob Bishop, 82, of Springfield died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 17, 1926, in Kansas, Ill., the son of Wendell and Gladys Cox Bishop. He married Annette Snook on May 7, 1977. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and a great-grandchild, Sienna Bishop.

Mr. Bishop worked for Air Research/Capitol Aviation as manager of ground services, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked in car sales for several dealerships, most notably for Bill & Gary’s Lincolnland Auto. He last worked for Imaging Associates.

He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family and loved Jerry Lee Lewis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Annette D. Bishop of Springfield; two daughters, Janice (husband, Joe) Bessette of Pioneertown, Calif., and Kimberly (husband, Scotty) Scott of St. Louis; a son, Todd (wife, Gina) Cooper of Springfield; four grandchildren, Chase and Natasha Cooper, Jason (wife, Kym) Bishop and Renee Schaub; and two great-grandchildren, Halen and Asher Bishop; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 until time of memorial services at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor G. Leroy Donathan officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care of Sangamon County, 319 E. Madison St., Ste. 3L, Springfield, IL, 62701, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
